In the 21st century business world, data centers are an indispensable part of day-to-day operations. These enormous facilities house the computer systems which make up the networks businesses use to carry out their work. To be of any use, these facilities must remain online and powered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Any power-related downtime could mean costly and catastrophic disruptions to businesses around the world.
IEM serves data center operators primarily via the IEM Power Systems™ RBT™. The RBT or “Rotabloc” is a simple rotary power machine that provides efficient, cost effective power protection for data centers and other facilities that need extremely reliable power, like banks, airports, hospitals and secure government facilities.
How Does It Work?
The IEM Power Systems Rotabloc is part of a unique ‘Integrated’ Uninterruptible Power Protection System. This system includes the Engine Generator, UPS module, and Switchgear components, all of which are controlled by a central operating system, giving users a system that’s simple in both its design and operation.
Once its set up and fine-tuned for your operation, the IEM Rotabloc Power Control System carefully monitors your standard utility power for both voltage and frequency deviations. If the power input drops, the system automatically responds within milliseconds, activating the Rotabloc and getting it up to speed at the required rate as it synchronizes with the UPS, stabilizing the power load.
Once the utility power returns, the UPS and Rotabloc resynchronize with the utility power and reconnect to the original power source in a controlled manner.
All of these actions are overseen by the system Switchgear, which ensures this process operation is always carried out in the correct order, ensuring consistent power flow and equipment protection.
What This Means For You
While your specific needs may be different than that of a data center, the IEM Power Systems™ RBT™ can still be a valuable asset. If your facility needs reliable, dependable, constant power you could benefit from the Rotabloc and the UPS it complements.
